Software developer who spent many years at Samsung Research developing and architecting software for their Mobiles, Wearables and TV's ( Galaxy, Note, Gear etc).
Started doing Yoga and woke up to realise, we’ve got this finite number of heart beats on the planet and we need to do something that means something to us, something that matters. Limbick is that something.

Helping Limbick in many areas, especially related to the psychology of emotions, affective computing, innovation processes and design thinking while also working full time at the BBC ( previously also at Samsung Research).
Curious about people, passionate about technology, psychology, HCI, affective and cognitive sciences.

Limbick brief history
By Nick:
Created a world-cinema film review site in 2008, instead of using a star rating system I made a rating system using sliders / emoticons to try and capture how someone felt about the film.
Late 2015 saw a clip on the BBC website about Laboratoria, a coding school in Peru who: “identify young women with high potential, despite their economic limitations, and give them the opportunity to become awesome developers”
Contacted the WebShop part of Laboratoria who agreed to do redesign the UX side of SubReview ( using Sketch / Invision / Zeplin ). Photo of Laboratoria:

Laboratoria came up with the name Limbick ( The Limbic system supports a variety of functions including emotion in the brain ).
During the redesign process, Herman (co-founder of Laboratoria) gave me a master class on lean startup techniques. This included how to take an idea like Limbick and create a minimum viable product (MVP) with just facebook ads, a landing page and an early adopter signup form.
The missing piece of the Limbick puzzle came when I reached out to Katia to have a look at the Limbick UX designs. I discovered she had a degree in Psychology and had worked in the area of emotions / affective computing. It became clear during that first conversation I knew absolutely nothing about human emotions :-)
In 2017 I left Samsung Research to work on Limbick Labs full time, and pivoted the idea away from a film website to just focus on emotions and to start creating some real change.
Awards
In 2018 Limbick Labs succsefully made into the the final of the Thames Vally Tech awards with 4 other outstanding startups in the region. We didn't win, but managed to pick up a highly commended award.
